Selenite is a type of gypsum crystal that is often either transparent or a shimmering opaque. It is often brilliant white, mainly occurring in long sword-like crystals that are partially translucent, and if you tilt them back and forth they visibly 'bounce' white light up and down them. Selenite has properties that make it truly unique for spiritual and metaphysical purposes. It is the only crystal that is able to clear and recharge other crystals and has the ability to constantly cleanse and recharge itself. Selenite is especially beneficial for activating the seventh or crown chakra and for stimulating and opening the third eye chakra.

An excellent crystal to work with while meditating Holding a piece of Selenite in the hand is said to help drain any negative energy from the body while a large piece of Selenite placed in houseis said to ensure a peaceful atmosphere.

Place one nearby while you meditate or hold a piece in your hand to help keep your mind clear, lucid and calm and help you to get in touch with your higher self and expand the awareness of your mind and spirit. Good to use during prayer, communicating with angels and astral projection.

Because of its ability to calm and clear the mind, it can be good to keep selenite with your during times of emotional stress.

Because selenite is a soft crystal it should be handled with care and not stored with other crystals which may scratch its surface. It is also good to keep selenite out of direct sunlight and it should never be washed or placed in water because this can erode or damage its surface.
